William Lloyd “Bill” Starrett was born in Denver, Colorado on November 16, 1934. He grew up in Colorado and spent time working on his family’s wheat farm which molded him into the hard worker he was throughout his entire life. Bill attended school in Colorado and was a member of the State Championship Team from Holly, Colorado for basketball and football. He married the love of his life, Barbara Reyman on Christmas Day, 1954 in Holly. Bill started his teaching and coaching career in Holly in 1957 and was a teacher and coach there for 3 years. He was the head coach in Monte Vista, CO for one year. Bill then went back to school as a student and attended veterinary school for two years in Fort Collins, CO. He and Barbara moved to Missouri in 1964 and Bill taught and then became principal at Hollister High School. From 1970 to 1977, Bill was the principal at Mansfield High School.
After his successful career in education, Bill went into the lumber business for 23 years and retired in 1999.
Bill accepted Christ as his Savior at the age of 65 and loved to share his testimony. He also treasured his family and enjoyed sports, music, playing the fiddle, hunting and fishing.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Everett & Alberta Willhite.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Barbara Jo (Reyman) Starrett; three sons, Scott Starrett (Judy) of Kirbyville, MO, Joe Starrett (Sharon) of Tulsa, OK, Steve Starrett (Shelli) of Longview, TX; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be Thursday, June 3, 2021 at 10:30 A.M. in Church 3:16, Forsyth with Pastor Jeramie Henson officiating. Burial will be July 8, 2021 in Holly, Colorado.
