Stanley Dixon Obituary

Graveside services for Stanley G. Dixon, 87, Springfield, MO will be held Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 2PM at the Mincy Cemetery, Mincy, Mo.  Bro. Freddie Blevins will officiate.  Military honors will be provided by the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 913.  Services are under the direction of Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home and Crematory, Branson.  Mr. Dixon entered into rest at his home in Springfield. Thursday, Apr. 22, 2021.

Stanley Garland Dixon was born Nov. 1, 1933 in Mincy, Mo.  He was the son of Emitt and Hallie (France) Dixon.  Stanley attended the School of the Ozarks his freshman year of high school, then transferred to Branson High School for his last three years of public school. He served his country as a private in the United States Army during the Korean War.  When he returned from overseas he began working for College of the Ozarks. At the college he worked as the head of the sheet metal heating & air department; he also was in the public relations department at the school for 41 dedicated years.

Stanley married Barbara E. Scruggs on Oct. 30, 1955 in Branson.  They had celebrated sixty-five years together this past Oct.  Stanley and Barbara were blessed with three sons.

He enjoyed living at Kirbyville most of his life. After retiring from College of the Ozarks he moved to Alpena, Arkansas and finally to Springfield. Stanley enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers Glen, Leon, Carl, Don, Alvin and one sister Opal Baughman.

Stanley is survived by his loving wife Barbara Dixon of the home; three sons and their spouses, Micheal Dixon (Angie) of Alpena, Ark.; Phillip Dixon (Thecia) of Battlefield, Mo.; Jeffery Dixon (Patty) of Polo, Mo.; two brothers Bob Dixon and Chester Dixon (Ardyth) all of Kirbyville; sister Bonnie Cooper of South Haven, MS; eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
