Russell was born on February 2, 1938 in Wayland, Iowa. He moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado after high school. Russell was a stone mason and a magician and artist at his craft. He worked with brick and stone and constructed fantastic arch ways and fireplaces along with home exteriors. He was often requested by contractors because of the beauty and craftsmanship of his work. He also did many projects with YoungLife in Colorado Springs and went with them to build on mission work to Puerto Rico.
Russell later moved from Colorado Springs to Montana to be closer to his daughter. While there, he met and fell in love with Violet Williams. They were married May 14, 2007 in Helena, MT. Russell and Violet enjoyed love drives, skiing and snowmobiling together. They decided to move out of the cold climate and moved to Salesville, Arkansas. Russell spent countless hours picking up rocks from neighbors’ fields to rock their home and could recount which neighbor each rock came from. He and Violet also loved being outside and planted fruit trees and flower beds on their property. After selling their home in Arkansas, they moved to Branson. Russell was a faithful member of Hope Fellowship Church in Branson West and will be greatly missed by his church family.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Lisa Orth.
He is survived by his wife, Violet Williams of Branson; daughter, Tammy (Scott) Carpenter of Helena, MT; grandchildren, Casey Carpenter of Colorado Springs, Devon Carpenter of Helena, Karissa Bibb of Colorado Springs and Lindsey Yusaf of Colorado Springs along with one great-grandson. He is also survived by his brother Ernie (Florabell) Conrad of Adair, OK and three sisters, Pauline (Don) Hoffman of Sun City, AZ, Lucille (Allan) Wagler of Kalona, IA and Emma (John) Woodward of Canon City, CO.
Memorials in Russell’s honor may be made to Hope Fellowship Church, 19459 MO-413, Branson West, MO 65737.
