Paul Humphrey, age 84, of Flippin, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2020 at Hospice of the Ozarks in Mountain Home.
He was born October 10, 1935 to the late John & Clara (Burress) Humphrey in Rea Valley, Arkansas.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; a baby son; his brothers, Otis & Virgil Humphrey; his sister-in-law, Willia Humphrey; and his nephew Johnnie Humphrey.
Paul married Mary Morton on May 13, 1964 in Yellville.
In his younger days he loved fishing and hunting and that love continued throughout his life. He also served as a deputy in Marion County Arkansas under Sheriff George Hickey. Paul accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior as a teenager. He served as a Sunday School teacher and attended Flippin Lighthouse Assembly of God. He enjoyed spending time with his family and reading his Bible from front to back and back to front. He also enjoyed spending time with his cat Hops “Hoppy”. Hoppy stayed close to Paul’s side during his illness.
Paul is survived by his loving and devoted wife Mary, his daughter and son-in-law Paula & David Edmonson; his son and daughter-in-law Paul David & Karla Humphrey; his five grandsons, Brett (Jessica) Jefferson of Mountain Home, Bradley (Meadow) Edmonson of Gassville, Brian (Brandy) Edmonson of Bakersfield, MO, Caleb Humphrey and Noah Humphrey of Flippin; 3 great grandsons, Barrett, Michael & Elliott, and one soon-to-be great granddaughter, Juniper. Paul is also survived by one sister-in-law Irene Humphrey, a niece Kathy (Ted) McCoy and nephew Mark Humphrey, as well as several great and great-great nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Paul’s life will be Wednesday, August 26, 2020 with visitation beginning at 1:00 P.M. for the public and the service at 2:00 P.M. in Flippin Lighthouse Assembly of God, 121 Marshall Street, Flippin, AR 72634. Officiating will be Pastor Charles Davis, Pastor Lee Parnell and Pastor Roger Rogers. Interment will follow at Hand Valley Cemetery in Rea Valley.
Pallbearers will be Brett Jefferson, Bradley Edmonson, Brian Edmonson, Caleb Humphrey, Noah Humphrey and Jeff Morrow.
Honorary pallbearers are Louie Daniels, Butch Haug, Jimmy Baker, Dave Devore, Barrett Edmonson, Mark Humphrey, Michael Jefferson and Elliott Edmonson.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks or Hand Valley Cemetery c/o Larry Bearden, 2955 MC 6075, Yellville, AR 72687.
In compliance with the State of Arkansas COVID-19 Mandates for face masks and large indoor gatherings, all persons over age 10 are required to furnish and wear a mask and occupancy is limited to 2/3 capacity of the facility.
