Mona Lee King was born on March 31, 1933 in Sheridan, Indiana. She was the daughter of Harry Swope and Elsie (Cox) Swope. On May 21, 1955 she married Ed King in Frankfort, IN. Along with caring for her family and making a home, Mona had worked in the offices of the Del Monte Employment Division and Indiana State Employment Office. She and Ed moved to Forsyth in 1991 from Frankfort. She became a beloved Forsyth staple owning and operating the Forsyth Drive-In serving their delicious food including The Mighty Mo, ice cream and milkshakes. Mona was a member of the Forsyth Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing and painting ceramics. Mona loved taking care of her dogs and most of all loved spending time with her granddaughters, family and friends.
She entered into rest on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at Cox South in Springfield at the age of 87.
Mona was preceded in death by her parents; husband William E. “Ed” King; and sisters, Roberta Denman and Georgia Harrington.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa King of Forsyth; son, Kevin King and wife Jeri of Kirbyville, and her grandchildren, Nikki Pare and husband Robert of Forsyth, Kaitlyn King of Forsyth, Shayna Harmon of Kirbyville and Casey King of Kirbyville. Mona will be missed greatly but we are thankful she is whole and healthy once again and dancing with Ed.
Graveside services will be Monday, August 10, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. in Ozarks Memorial Park Cemetery, Branson with Pastor Austin Sutton officiating.
