Michael McCartney Obituary
Michael McCartney, was born on February 16, 1957 in Phoenix, AZ, and passed away on March 3, 2026. Raised in New Braunfels, TX, Michael was known for his dedication to education and service. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business from Texas A&M University, where he served in the Corps of Cadets and participated in the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band. He went on to achieve a Master’s Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Human Resources.
Michael’s distinguished military career was spent as a navigator in the United States Air Force, flying in the F-111 Aardvark. He retired as a Major after completing 30 successful combat missions in the Persian Gulf War, including Operation Desert Storm, and taught navigator training to countless airmen. Michael was also a part of the JROTC program at Inola, Oklahoma, mentoring future leaders and pilots. After retiring from the Air Force in 2000, he continued to serve his community as a paraprofessional at Branson High School.
An avid runner, Michael enjoyed jogging and being outdoors. On February 22, 1992, he married the love of his life, Kathy (Brubaker), in Universal City, TX. Michael and Kathy moved to Branson fifteen years ago from Tulsa, Oklahoma. They were part of the community at Faith Life Church.
Michael is survived by his wife, Kathy McCartney of Branson and son, Chad McCartney of Branson; his brother Gary McCartney of Hertz, TX and extended family and friends.
Services will be Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 10:00 am in Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home & Crematory, Branson.
