Lyle Leroy McLellan passed away on April 28, 2026, in Hollister, MO, at the age of 92. He was born on April 12, 1934, in Charlevoix, MI, and was known for his generous spirit, unwavering faith, and dedication to friends and family.
Lyle was the son of Robert Lyle and Helen Marie (Schall) McLellan. He was the second of seven children and grew up in northern Michigan before leaving for the Navy after high school. He met and married Laura Catherine Knichel in November 1956. They were stationed in Guam, and after serving honorably for four years, moved back to Michigan. Lyle started a new chapter by attending beauty school to become a hairdresser. He opened Mr. Lyle’s Beauty Lounge in 1964 in downtown Branson. He became a fixture in the community and ran Mr. Lyle’s for 43 years until his retirement in 2007.
Lyle had a lifelong passion for music and cooking, which he shared with friends and family. He played piano by ear and had a deep love of traditional hymns which he performed for church services throughout his life. He loved representing his proud Scottish heritage with his award-winning shortbread.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He is survived by Cathy his wife of 69 years; sister Lois Landis; son Scot and his wife Kelly; grandson Connor and his wife Alyssa; granddaughter Sarah; and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings: Shirley Lowe, Lila Horniman, John McLellan, Gary McLellan and Allen McLellan.
