Louis H. “Louie” Schmidt was born on August 21, 1931 in St. Louis, MO.  He was the son of Louis H. Schmidt, Sr. and Irene J. (Nillman) Schmidt.  Louie spent much of his life in St. Louis and upon retirement moved to Branson in the early 1990s.  He attended Roe Elementary and graduated from Southwest High School in St. Louis.  He proudly entered the United States Army in February 1952 in St. Louis and served in Korea.  He was honorably discharged as a Corporal in February 1954 at Camp Carson, CO.  

On October 25, 1958, Louie married the love of his life, Mera Dean Johnson and was the beloved step-father of her sons, Kenneth and Mark.  Louie’s career was spent at McDonnell Douglas where he worked in the missile division inspecting wiring.  

His work ethic was evident not only in his job at the aerospace company but also in his personal life.  He could often be found helping out his neighbors with yard work or serving at his church, First Baptist Church in Branson.  Louis also gave back to his country and other service families by serving on the KWVA honor guard for many years at veteran’s funerals.  He will be remembered for his love of God, country and family and his generous heart.

Louie entered into Heaven from his home in Union, MO on Saturday, February 1, 2025.  He was 93 years old.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis & Irene Schmidt; his wife, Mera Dean Schmidt; brothers, Dave Schmidt and Russell Schmidt and one granddaughter, Kimberly Davis.

He will be missed by his son, Kenneth Davis of Union and grandchildren, Kenny, Jr. and Kristen; his son, Mark Davis of Union and granddaughter Destiny; and extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held Thursday evening, February 6, 2025 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm in Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home & Crematory with funeral services to follow at 6:00 pm in the funeral home. Louie will be laid to rest with military honors on Friday, February 7, 2025 at 9:00 am in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield.
