Lenard Ivan Spurgeon, 85, of Topeka KS, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka KS.
He was born on August 15, 1935 to Ivan and Elsie (Chapman) Spurgeon at home on a farm near Cuba, MO.
He was united in marriage to Melva (Licklider) Spurgeon on February 4, 1955 at Hernando, MS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivan and Elsie Spurgeon, sisters; Pauline Spurgeon, Wanda Brink, Joan Orlando, and Gladyne Forster, daughter, Jean Isaacs, and son, Gary Spurgeon.
He is survived by his wife Melva(Licklider) Spurgeon, daughter, Terri Kern(Nick) of Topeka, KS, son-in-law, Gary Isaacs(Katria) of Bradleyville, MO; grandchildren, Brian(Jessica) Isaacs, Travis Isaacs, Rachel Langenfeld, Sarah(Nick) Penna, Jesse Kern, Cassidy Kern, and Jodi Kern; and great-grandchildren Charity Isaacs, Wesley, Wriley and Charlee Isaacs, and Avery and Zoey Langenfeld. He is also survived by many other beloved family and friends.
Lenard and Melva lived in the Cuba/Owensville/St. Louis area until they moved to the Branson area in 1971 and then moved to Kansas in 2017. Lenard loved the Lord and was a member of the church wherever he lived. Lenard worked in various occupations including shoe factory machine operator, farming, resort owner, carpentry, craft business, and rental properties. Out of all of that, he would rather be fishing.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 31, 2020 from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M. in the funeral home. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Josh Johannes officiating. Burial will be in Ozarks Memorial Park Cemetery, Branson.
