LaDona Jean Garber Obituary

LaDona Jean Garber was born May 29, 1937, in Hiawatha, Kansas. She was Valedictorian of her class at Fairview Kansas High School. After high school she attended the University of Kansas, where she earned her degree in political science and continued as a law student, demonstrating her passion for learning and commitment to serve others.

It was while attending KU, LaDona was set up on a blind date with fellow Jayhawk Gary Garber. Their connection was instant, and the couple married on December 20, 1959, embarking on a journey together that would span decades and many adventures. They were married for 65 years.

Throughout her professional life, LaDona worked as an insurance adjustor for various insurance companies, always striving to help others with diligence, honesty and care. She and Gary lived in numerous places but shared a special fondness for Branson, where they loved to vacation. In 2008, they made Branson West their permanent home.

LaDona entered into rest on Tuesday morning, March 10, 2026 at Cox Medical Center in Branson at the age of 88.

She will be remembered for her unwavering love for family and friends, her sharp intellect, her patriotism and her interest in politics.

Memories of her laughter, wisdom, and the many moments shared during her remarkable life will be greatly treasured and she will be deeply missed by her family: husband, Gary Garber of Branson West; brother, Calvin & wife Jean Kopp of Topeka, KS; nephew, Ty Tummons; nieces, Jennifer Kopp, Shannon Crooks & husband Chad, Kristen Narron & husband Jeff; and her great and great-great nieces and nephews.

LaDona was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin F. Kopp, Sr. and Dora L. (VanDalsem) Kopp and her sister Carolee Pearse.
