Jimmie Lee Allen Mustain, age 78, of Cape Fair, Missouri, went to be with his Lord and Savior at 2:45 p.m. on Sunday, May 19 at The Shepherd of the Hills Nursing Home, Branson, MO. Jim was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be deeply missed. He was a man of deep faith and is now sitting by Jesus’ side.
Jim was born April 19, 1941 in a farmhouse in Risco, MO to Clarence and Hazel (Carroll) Mustain. He graduated from Malden High School in 1958. Some of his fondest memories were of his high school days and friends. He remained in touch with many of his classmates and attended every reunion he could.
From a young age, he was fascinated by airplanes and his entire 44-year career was devoted to the airline industry. He was a true Missourian and while his career took him to various parts of the country, he came home to Missouri to retire in Cape Fair, MO.
Jim possessed a strong passion for music and dearly loved to sing. He enjoyed attending concerts, listening to or playing music in his “man cave”, square dance calling, and even performed in a barbershop quartet. He was an auto aficionado and loved attending car shows as well as displaying his own vehicles.
Traveling with his wife, Gussie, making home improvements, and spending time on the lake with friends and family were some of his many treasured activities. He truly enjoyed the company of all his friends and would go out of his way to help, if any needed it. Although he “retired”, he loved working part time with his son and grandsons at The Ski Shack. Known as “Papa” to his grandchildren, he was given the nickname “PJ” – Papa Jim- by The Ski Shack staff as he was highly revered by all.
Jim delighted in his children and grandchildren and enjoyed hearing stories of their antics, accomplishments, goals, and dreams and was their biggest cheerleader as they grew from infants to adulthood. He was fiercely proud of every single one of them and considered them his greatest achievement.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 24 years, Gussie, daughters Robyn Strong & husband Tom, Jamie Letts & husband Tony, son Greg Mustain & wife Christy, sister Nikki Mayberry & husband Gary, grandchildren Jacob Kriz, Zach Mustain, Travis Mustain, Kendall Letts, and Jordan Letts, as well as a large extended family. He was preceded in death by his father Clarence Mustain, mother Edna Mustain, and brother Mark Mustain.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Jim touched are invited to the Celebration of Life Memorial Service to be held on Tues, May 28 at 11:00am at Keystone Baptist Church off Keystone Rd in Reeds Spring, to reminisce, grieve, and celebrate Jim’s impactful life.
