Jana Winn Obituary

Jana Adams Winn, age 56, passed away December 27, 2018 at Cox Medical Center in Branson, Missouri.  She was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on July 22, 1962 to Mel and Zee (Cagle) Adams. Shortly after she was born, her family moved to Texas, eventually settling in Richardson where she was raised and lived most of her young adult years.  Throughout her younger years, she loved all animals, and took a particular interest in horses, even barrel racing them as a teenager.  After high school, she decided that she was definitely finished with traditional school, and enrolled in cosmetology school to become a hairdresser.  She continued that until she found her favorite animal of all: her children. She left cutting hair full-time to be a loving, incredible mother to her two kids, Carter and Brianna.  When life took her and her family to Missouri, she embarked on a new adventure that she soon found to be her life’s calling at the First Baptist Learning Center.  For 20 years, “Miss Jana” taught, led (with occasionally re-directing), but most of all loved thousands of children as if they were her own.  Her passion for children was rivaled only by her passion for Jesus, who she found at the age of 35.  After that, she lived the rest of her life loving everyone she encountered like Jesus would, and telling anyone that would listen about the incredible gift of salvation He offered them.  Even as she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer near the end of her life, Jana remained joyful in the Lord and his promises until her final breath.  She will be missed dearly, but left an indelible impact on everyone that had the privilege of knowing her.

Special thanks to Jana’s special and supportive friends, Amy Loewen and Jo Latta as well as her doctor and friend, Carolyn Clark.

Jana is survived by her parents, Mel and Zee, her brother Rick Adams of Richardson, Texas, her children Carter (Kaylie) Winn, Brianna (Michael) Smith, and adopted daughter Denise, several nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles, and one granddaughter, Chloe Winn, due in February.
