James Gentle Obituary

James Hodges Gentle aged 74, passed away on April 5th at his home in Kirbyville Missouri. He was born in Macomb Illinois on January 8th, 1949 to James B. and Betty H. Gentle. He was a 1967 graduate of Forsyth High School in Forsyth Missouri. On February 14, 1976 he married Patricia Ann and adopted her three children, Laura, Jeff and Steve from a previous marriage. His various jobs included computer programming, dialysis re-use technician and hospital unit clerk. After retirement he volunteered with the American Red Cross Disaster services for fifteen years. During this time, he was sent to assist with disaster relief across the country. He loved to travel, along with his wife and family he went on fifty-two cruises from the Caribbean, Alaska and South America. In the past few years he lived near his family in Kirbyville Missouri. He particularly loved to go fishing.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, younger brother Bobby and brother in law John Reich. His wife of forty -one years, Patricia, died in 2017.

He is survived by his three children, Laura, Jeff, Steve and his wife Julia. Grandchildren Chris, Tianna, Tyler, Matthew and Sophia and five great grandchildren. He is also survived by seven brothers and sisters. Terry and Judy Gentle, Sue Whittaker, Becky Reich, Kathy and Ernest Flannery, Mindy and David Waymire, Robyn and Donnie Whittaker and Tony and Virgie Gentle along with many nieces and nephews. He was cremated and will be interred alongside his wife at Scrivner Cemetery in Windyville Missouri.
