Funeral services for Gordon R. Nelson, 83, Hollister will be Tuesday, Sept. 3 at 10 AM in Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home and Crematory, Branson. Pastor Gary McSpadden will officiate. Military honors will be provided by Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 913. Burial will be held at a later date at Bovina Cemetery, Appleton, WI. Mr. Nelson entered into rest on August 29, 2019.
Gordon Richard Nelson was born July 22, 1936 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. He was the son of Olaf Richard and Loretta Sylvia (Jeffers) Nelson. Gordon served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. After he returned from Korea Gordon worked as a carpenter. He worked for several different companies building commercial buildings in Wisconsin, California and Missouri. He moved to Missouri from Modesto, Calif. and in 1998 moved to Hollister from Bolivar, Mo. Gordon attended Faith and Wisdom Church. He was a great witness for the Lord.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Maynard Nelson, Ira Nelson and Helen Hazel Cummings.
Gordon is survived by his loving wife Janice Nelson of twenty-five years; three sons Robert Nelson of New London, WI; Michael Nelson (Lisa) and Jerry Nelson (Kim) all of Modesto, Calif.; four step children John Terry (Flaura) of Easton, Penn.; JoAnna Aldred (Michael) of Oakdale, Calif.; Janie Hammond of Twain Harte, Calif.; Janae Terry of Sacramento, Calif.; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
