Ellen Tompkins Obituary

Major Ellen Tompkins, 92, was peaceably Promoted to Glory in the morning of October 10, 2019. She went to sleep on Wednesday night and woke in the arms of Jesus the next morning.  What a glorious morning for her as she has been suffering with dementia for the last few years. She is also with her husband, Major Roy Tompkins, again.

Majors Ellen along with husband Major Roy Tompkins were active Salvation Army Officers/Ministers for nearly 40 years throughout the Midwest.  Their ministry affected thousands of souls for Jesus. Anyone who knew her loved her as she always gave of what Jesus had given her.

She was proceeded in death by her aforementioned husband, Major Roy Tompkins, both her parents a brother and a sister.

She is survived by three sisters, Rosena Herrick, Ethel Harper, and Clara (Denny) Aubart, and one brother, Jimmie (Barb)Harper. She is also survived by her four children: Michael (Chris) Tompkins, Patricia (Richard) Montgomery, Major Cheryl (Andrew) Miller and Timothy (Jonalyn) Tompkins.  In addition, there are 12 grandchildren, four of which are officers today, and multiple great and great great Grandchildren, nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces too numerous to count.  In addition, if you ever met Major Ellen Tompkins you were automatically her friend.

Services will be held at the Branson, MO Salvation Army Corps on Thursday, October 17.  Viewing will be at 1:00 PM with the Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 PM.  Interment will be following in Ozarks Memorial Park Cemetery, Branson.
