Donald Gene Copeland was born on June 27, 1939 in Wilson, Oklahoma. He was the son of Andrew J. Copeland and Lottie I. (Smith) Copeland. He grew up in Oklahoma playing basketball and football at Lone Grove High School from which he graduated. Don married the love of his life Naomi U. Alexander on October 24, 1959 in Wilson. Don worked as a lineman and foreman with KAMO Electric Cooperative and retired from the co-op after a long career.
Don was a faithful man of God. He served as a Deacon at his home churches in Muskogee at Evangel Assembly of God and at First Assembly of God in Branson. He played on the church softball team as well as coaching his kids in little league ball. Don loved being outside, he enjoyed sports and watching the St. Louis Cardinals and Oklahoma University Football. Most of all he was a caring man who loved his family and their times together will be forever cherished.
Don entered into rest on Sunday, August 30, 2020 at his home in Branson. He was 81.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Bobby Copeland, Jackie Copeland, and Richard Tipton.
Don is survived by his wife Naomi Copeland of Branson; children, Kevin Copeland (Sandy) of Carthage, MO, Phillip Copeland (Christy) of Branson and Lynette Lermy (David) of Broken Arrow, OK and seven grandchildren Makenzie, Mariah, Parker, Skylar, Sterling, Kathryn and Abigayl. He is also survived by his brother, Oneal Copeland (Ginger) of Whitefield, OK, sister-in-law, Barbara Tipton of Wagoner, OK; bonus daughter Stacy Keys husband Johnny and their two children Brittany and Justin of Branson along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at the First Assembly of God Church, 399 State Highway T, Branson, MO 65616. Pastor Stan Miller will officiate. Burial following at Ozarks Memorial Park Cemetery, Branson. Visitation will begin at 12:30 P.M. in the church.
