David Elmer Rast, Jr. was born on May 28, 1963, in Chicago, Illinois, the only child of Dave Rast, Sr. and Marilyn (Ambrose) Silverstein. Raised in Glen Ellyn, he attended Glenbard North High School.
David was a man of many passions. He spent his early years enjoying the energy of the dance floor, competing with friends shooting pool or throwing darts, and finding contentment fishing on the lake or hunting in the woods. Later in life, David found joy spending time among friends and family, embracing his competitive spirit playing card games, and watching the assortment of wildlife visiting his backyard.
David will be remembered for the kindness he showed to others, leaving a lasting warmth in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a wonderful man who cherished his children, adored his family, and appreciated the people around him.
David passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 18, 2026, in Branson, Missouri, at the age of 62.
He is survived by his sons, David Rast, III and Michael Rast; his mother, Marilyn Silverstein; his father and stepmother, Dave and Pamela Rast; and his companion of 37 years, Kathryn Rast. He also leaves behind a blended family who loved him, including stepchildren Brian Callos, Derek Williams, and Natalie Barr, along with two grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren.
Friends and family are invited to a celebration of David’s life on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 10:00 am at Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home in Branson.
