David M. Hartman, affectionally known as “Uncle Nod,” of Branson, Missouri went to Heaven on Christmas Morning, December 25, 2020 due to Covid-19 complications. David was born on August 3, 1957 to James Earl and Barbara Mary Bullen Hartman in Durant, Oklahoma.
David is survived by his wife of 38 years, Debra; and eight siblings--James and Caroline Hartman, Robert “Red” Hartman, Barbara and Frank Shockley, Danny Hartman, Donna and Mike Hargis, Linda and Terry Liggins, and Terry Hartman along with many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. David is now laughing with his parents, James Earl and Barbara Mary Hartman; brother Chester Hartman; sister Carolyn Hartman and his little twin sisters Evelyn Marie and Helen Sherie Hartman. David and Debra were also blessed with adopted children of their hearts who are an integral part of their lives—Dr. James and Monica Phillips, Aimee and Mike Stewart, Tyson and Anna Haney, Vanessa and Hunter Lindsay, Jason and Rachel Houston and Dr. Rebecca Pearson.
After graduating from Charles Page High School in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, David attended Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri where he met his wife, Debra and attained a BA in Biblical Studies and Education Certification from Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri.
In 1990, David and Debra moved to Branson, Missouri. David managed several area hotels specializing in turnarounds and revenue growth with his one-of-a-kind, hands-on leadership style. He also developed a hotel consulting business assisting owners in Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas. David loved taking care of people both guests and employees and enjoyed mentoring young people for over 40 years. David loved Branson and served his community as a Rotarian and Branson Lakes Area Lodging Association member.
David’s favorite saying was “Everything will be okay!” and his life motto was “Live to Give!” His faith in God was his number one priority and he faithfully served in his local church. He was always looking for ways to bless people and spread joy with his contagious laughter.
David enjoyed fishing, football, baseball, bowling and most of all competing with his siblings. He loved to host family and friends—the more, the merrier!
Celebration of Life will be held at Faith Life Church, 3701 State Hwy. 76, Branson, Missouri on January 9, 2021 at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to FLC Branson Word Senders that provides free ministry materials to help people know how much God loves them.
