David Edie Obituary

David Edie, 90, passed away on March 10, 2022 in Nixa, Missouri. He was a long-time resident of Branson, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Edie in 2012 and his daughter, Elizabeth Cline in 2019.

David was born in Independence, Missouri and graduated from high school in 1949 from Grain Valley High School. He enlisted in the Air Force and served as an airplane mechanic during the Korean War. He worked in the HVAC business for years and in 1970 moved his family to Branson from Independence to own England Heating and Air Conditioning.

David had many passions and interests. He owned numerous motorcycles over the years and completed the “Iron Butt” challenge in 90’s. David had a passion for the outdoors and a love for hiking. He hiked the Appalachian Trail in his sixties. He also enjoyed flying his Cessna 152 airplane he called 87 Quebec. Camping, whether it was tent camping or in a trailer, that love of the outdoors continued throughout his life. He was an avid reader and could tell you everything about the civil war. He volunteered at Wilson’s Creek Battlefield and worked in their library and gave tours of the Rea House. David loved going to the symphony with Dorothy and he was also an artist. He loved working on many local building projects with Butler Architects even into his eighties. He was an alderman for the city of Branson and on the planning and zoning committee. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Branson where he served on many committees as well. Going to breakfast every morning at the Branson Café was a given. He met all his friends almost every morning for over 50 years. David was a wealth of knowledge and respected and loved by many.

He is survived by his three children. Bill Edie and wife Jean of Springfield, MO; Richard Edie and wife Robbie of Richmond, TX; and daughter Susie Edie-Sims and husband Bill of Nixa, MO; along with seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
