Dave Ward

Carl David Ward, peacefully took his last breath on August 22, 2023, at his home in Hollister, MO. Born on November 7, 1933, in Des Moines, IA, to Carl David Ward, Sr., and Mary Edythe (Wright) Ward, Dave was an embodiment of wisdom in every aspect of his life.

Receiving his early education in Des Moines, Dave graduated from Roosevelt High School before moving onto higher studies at Drake University, earning his undergraduate degree and a Doctor of Pharmacy degree.

Dave's dedication extended beyond his educational pursuits. He served in the United States Army in Munich, Germany, courageously upholding his duty to his country. Moreover, he was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary for many years, demonstrating his commitment to service.

He is survived by his daughters, Caryn Ward of Jamestown, NY, Lisa Gross of Hollister, and Angie Gilbert of Branson; his brother Dennis and sister-in-law Rosemarie Ward; and his beloved grandchildren, Justin Erholtz, Victoria McBee, Steven Gilbert, Jessica Pace, Gunner Gilbert and Jesse Gross. Also cherishing his memory are his seven great-grandchildren.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, son, Steven Ward and wife, Myra Ward.

Dave was a man with an unwavering faith and was a longtime member of the Skyline Baptist Church. Outside of his faith and service, he took great pleasure in hobbies that included boating and golfing.

In Dave's passing, the world loses a man steeped in wisdom, commitment, and kindness. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his strength, love, and the invaluable lessons he imparted to those around him.

A celebration of Dave’s life will be at New Life Temple, Hollister at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 31, 2023.  Dave’s burial will be at a later date next to Myra in Lakeland Cemetery, Omaha, AR. 

Cremation arrangements are under the care of Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home and Crematory, Branson.
