Services for Dan Farris, 59 of Hollister, will be held Thursday, July 23, 2020 at Sardis General Baptist Church in Forsyth. Visitation will begin at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday with a celebration of Dan’s life at 2:00 P.M. in the church. Burial will follow in Cedar Valley Cemetery, Hollister.
Daniel Paul Farris was born May 14, 1961 in Columbia, Missouri to Billy Ray Farris and Mary E. (Cameron) Farris. He grew up in Peculiar, Missouri and after high school got started in a long-time career of hanging and finishing drywall. He worked in the Kansas City area before moving to this area where he continued with drywall work. Dan was a member of Local 918 Carpenters Union. He married his sweetheart, Shirley on December 4, 1999 in Eureka Springs, AR. In 2001 Dan began working in landscape and the last few years worked landscaping with Wickman Gardens. It was a natural fit for him as an outdoorsman who loved gardening and landscaping. He loved to make things beautiful and flowers were his love. Dan also loved spending time with his family outdoors as well, whether camping with Shirley and their kids or going to deer camp every year with his brothers which expanded to include other family members as well.
Dan entered into rest on Friday, July 17, 2020 at his home in Hollister.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Farris and one infant sister Gail Lynn Farris.
Dan is survived by his wife, Shirley Farris and son Wyatt Farris both of the home; daughter, Krystal Wilder of Walnut Shade; step-daughter, Angie Brotherton and husband Travis of Hollister; step-son, Korey Rogers and wife Kaitlyn of Mincy; his mother, Mary Farris of Forsyth; brothers, John Farris of Cedarcreek, Nick Farris and wife Jammie of Branson, Tom Farris and wife Debbie of Pea Ridge, AR and Rob Farris of Cedarcreek; sister, Susann Bronson and husband Mark of Harrisonville, MO along with seven grandchildren.
Dan will be dearly missed but the Lord has guided him home.
