Carol Dahle (Young) Plaster

Our mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend died on July 25th, 2020 in Lehi, Utah.  Carol had struggled with her health for the past five years and, after a full, joyful life, her body decided it was time to move on.  Carol was born on December 22, 1937 in Westwood, CA to Ada and Don Naef.  She spent some of her childhood living in Utah, but her family moved to Susanville, CA where Carol graduated from high school.  She met her first husband, Doilton Ray Young there in Susanville and they were married in Reno, NV on November 29th, 1957.  In 1959, their first son, David, was born in Susanville.  In 1960, their second son, Robert, was born in Chico, CA.  Their youngest son, Douglas was born in San Jose, CA in 1976. In 1980, Doilton (“Ray”) died suddenly of a heart attack leaving her a young widow with a 4-year old son at home in Chico.  Then in 1985, she married James Michael Plaster to whom she was married until his death.  They had retired from Chico to Branson, MO, where James (“Mick”) passed away in 2012.  They both thoroughly enjoyed Branson for its friendly people and the entertainment available from the many shows.

Carol loved to perform.  She sang and danced when she was young.  Her love for music lasted her whole life.  While she could not talk during her final years, she would join in singing to her favorite church or patriotic songs to the end.  She was also very creative as an artist sharing her talents as a painter and making flower arrangements.  Carol was active in her church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving often in the youth and women’s organizations.  She is survived by her sons David (Jean) of Liberty, MO, Bob (Sherri) of McMurray, PA, and Doug (Clarissa) of Gilbert, AZ, and by twelve grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her brother Norman Simms of Kaysville, UT and her sisters Bonnie Southwick of Lehi, UT and Diana Lloyd of Hurricane, UT.  Carol was preceded in death by her parents Don and Ada Naef and her husbands Ray Young and Mick Plaster.

A memorial service will be held on August 5th at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Branson, MO at 3:00pm with the burial following the service in Ozarks Memorial Park Cemetery, Branson.
