Bill Stone Obituary

Billy Frank Stone, known as Bill, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 10, 2023, in Branson, Missouri. He was born on June 28, 1947, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, to Troy and Elma Stone (both deceased).

 

Bill attended the University of Oklahoma in Norman, where he received Bachelor’s and Master's Degrees in Music Education. While working on his Master’s Degree he was a graduate assistant of the University of Oklahoma band.

 

On August 2, 1969, Bill married the love of his life, Shirley, and together they raised twin sons, Michael Harrison Stone and David Preston Stone both in Branson.

 

His professional journey saw him being a successful band director at Central Junior High in Lawton, Oklahoma; band director and music supervisor at Union High School; and band director at Dewey High School.  Later he managed convenience stores for Phillips Petroleum Company.

 

Bill was a member of First Baptist Church in Branson. His hobbies included model railroading and reading. Bill loved going to Disney World and the Santa Fe opera.  He was an ardent Sooner fan.

 

Bill Stone will always be remembered for how much he loved to teach band and how much he inspired his students.

 

Memorial services will be Tuesday October 17 at 10:30 A.M. at Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home and Crematory in Branson, Missouri (1638 East Highway 76).
