Betty Turner Obituary

Betty Jane Turner was born September 6, 1923 in Bristow, Oklahoma, the second of seven children of Alfred Hamilton Wooster and Berta (White) Wooster.

She was first married to Lorwin Cates and had a son named Alan.

She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on Jan. 1, 1955 in Long Beach, California.

Betty’s second marriage was to Robert W. "Bob" Turner at the home of Bud and Zeta Paul in Branson, Missouri in the fall of 1957.

Betty began regular pioneering on January 1, 1971, where she spent much of her time helping others learn more about the Good News of God’s Kingdom, and our Creator Jehovah God, whom she truly loved.

Betty worked in Taney County, Missouri in the ministry with an anointed sister, Isabel Smith, when it was still an unassigned territory.  She had the privilege of attending the International Convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Poland in 1989.  Upon returning home from the convention, she found herself assisting with the construction of the new Branson, Missouri kingdom hall.

Betty entered into rest on March 10, 2021 in Hollister at the age of 97.

Betty is survived by her sister Colleen Malicoat, of Oroville, Ca. and her son Alan Cates, of Escondido, California.  Preceding her in death was her mother Berta, father Alfred, sisters Ruth, Sue and Christine, brother Tony, and loving husband Bob Turner.

Betty’s favorite scriptures were:  Ps. 83:17, 18 and John 17:3

Even though Betty became paralyzed from the waist down in her later years, her love for Jehovah God never slowed her mobility and zeal for the truth, as she never let it stop her from witnessing to whomever crossed her path.  Her example was one of firm determination filled with loving kindness.

Memorial Services will be on ZOOM April 17th at 3pm conducted by Ken Welsh. For more information, call 417-335-2201.
