Saundra Blackman Obituary

Born Saundra Chloe Epps on May 22, 1945, she is the daughter of James F. & Alice C. Epps and attended Branson Schools.  She passed away June 28, 2019 and is survived by her husband Norman D. Blackman III of Springfield, MO, and her three children Denise Marlin, Jeff Akers and Summer Blackman.

We love you Grandma Sandy, and we will miss the many caring ways you showed your loved for all of us.  As we temper our pain of losing you with thoughts of a better place, we rejoice in the lasting memories of our time with you.  Throughout her courageous battle with cancer, the most important thing was keeping life as normal as possible, which meant valued time with family and friends, and her husband of over forty years Norman Blackman.

Perhaps most important to her was the well-being and care of her children and grandchildren.  She made it to their activities which included hundreds of games, graduations, and performances over the years.  Missing these was one of her greatest worries when facing her battle with cancer.  She could proudly tell you the birthdays and recent activities for Coltney, JaiDee, Ace, Kellen, Jayden, Jett and Kaesan.

Her favorite things to do included visiting with her extended family of cousins, uncles and friends.  She valued these friendships and family greatly, and throughout the years she kept up with them through family reunions and many phone calls with cousins, neighbors and former classmates.  Some of her other joys were fixing up houses, antiques, landscaping and old cars.

Her sharp sense of humor never failed her throughout her battle with cancer, as she kept her care team on their toes with her wit and stubborn will to win her battle.  She would say that she was not ready to leave us yet, but her love for life and her grandkids will forever serve as a reminder to enjoy life and love your family to the fullest, each and every precious day.

Services will be Saturday, July 13, 2019 with visitation beginning at 12:00 P.M. and the funeral service at 1:00 P.M. in Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home and Crematory, Branson.  Rev. John Comer will officiate.  Burial will follow in Gobblers Knob Cemetery, Hwy BB in Hollister.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the American Cancer Society.
