Sarah Elizabeth Simmonds was born on February 12, 1933 in Reeds Spring, MO. She was the daughter of Solomon Edward Ralston and Olive Edna (Terry) Ralston. She graduated from high school in Springfield, MO. She worked at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Kansas City. She was an original 411 telephone operator and transitioned to a clerical position in the engineering department where she met Ace Simmonds. They married in 1978. Sarah raised three daughters.
Sarah was a member of the Ozark Mountain Christian Church. She had moved from Branson to Manhattan, Kansas two years ago to be closer to her family. She continued to keep in touch daily with her Ozark Mountain Christian Church family. Sarah loved quilting, baking and playing cards. She always had a positive and upbeat attitude; something she felt was important in life.
Sarah entered into rest on Monday, November 12, 2018 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, KS at the age of 85.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Loyal (Ace) Lyndon Simmonds and 14 brothers and sisters.
Sarah is survived by her three daughters: Barbara Kramen-Kahn and husband David of Truckee, CA; Sandra Tabor of Manhattan, KS and Mardi Miller and husband Jim Miller of Bates City, MO; four grandchildren, Sandra’s children Thorin Tabor and wife Alexandra Oleske of Buffalo, NY and Lisa Millsaps and husband Seth of Waterloo, IA; and Mardi’s children, Sarah Hollingsworth and her husband Robert and Robert Miller along with seven great grandchildren.
Sarah will be laid to rest in Ozarks Memorial Park Cemetery, Branson next to her husband Ace Simmonds under the direction of Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home and Crematory, Branson.
A celebration of her life will be held at Ozark Mountain Christian Church with the date and time to be announced.
