Funeral services for Roy Combs, 86 of Taneyville, will be Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 2:30 P.M. at the White River Association Youth Camp with Pastor Terry Wolfe officiating. Burial will follow in Helphrey Cemetery, Taneyville. Visitation will be Friday evening, May 11 from 6:00 – 7:00 P.M. in Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home and Crematory, Branson.
Roy Gene Combs was born on September 13, 1931 in Kissee Mills, MO. He attended one-room school houses until he reached high school where he graduated from Forsyth in 1948 and later attended Missouri State University, formerly SMSU. He served during the Korean Conflict in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954.
Roy married Letha Coyeta Shrum on April 5, 1958 in Branson and they were blessed with one daughter. Roy and Coyeta moved to Kansas City where Roy served 25 years with the Kansas City Police Department. They moved back to this area in 1982. Roy was a member of Branson East Seventh-day Adventist Church where he served as head deacon. Roy was a born leader and loved to talk to everyone. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and farming.
Roy entered into rest on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at his farm in Taneyville.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Hattie B. Combs; two sisters, Pauline Earring and Irene Rinker and one granddaughter, Megan Sharpnack.
He is survived by his loving wife, Coyeta Combs of Taneyville; his daughter, Sherry L. Sharpnack and husband John of Lincoln, NE and granddaughter, Melanie Sharpnack of Overland Park, KS along with several nieces and nephews.
