Michael Lester Wenig

August 25, 1932 ~ September 28, 2017 (age 85) 85 Years Old


Michael Lester Wenig was born August 25, 1932 in Los Angeles, CA and raised in New York, NY. He served as a Naval Photographer on the USS Toledo during the Korean War. After his service, Mike spent his entire career working for the American Broadcasting Company in Los Angeles, CA as a video tape engineer.  He was fortunate enough to be part of ABC Wide World of Sports, working on the Olympic Games, NFL and College football, Indianapolis 500, Academy Award shows, PGA golf tours and more, receiving multiple Emmy awards for his efforts.

Mike married Patricia Meyers in 1967 in Las Vegas, NV and they celebrated 47 years together before her passing in March of 2015.

Mike's retirement passion was working with model trains, and as the owner and operator of the Branson Hobby Center in Hollister, MO, he was able to run a successful business and enjoy his retirement.

Mike passed away Thursday, September 28, 2017 at the age of 85.  

Michael is survived by his children Jeff Wenig of Santa Paula, CA and Sandy Wenig of Mississauga, ON, Canada, and he will be missed by numerous family and friends.

Memorials in Mike's memory may be made to the Shepherd of the Hills Humane Society in Branson, MO or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
