Janet G. Main

Services for Janet G. Main, 81 of Branson, will be Thursday, September 19, 2019 at 3:00 P.M. in the First Baptist Church Branson with Pastor Jeremy Thomas officiating.  Visitation will precede the funeral service and begin at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday in the church.  Burial will be in Ozarks Memorial Park Cemetery, Branson under the direction of Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home and Crematory.

Janet was born on May 27, 1938 in Waukegan, Illinois to John G. & Ruth Elizabeth (Atherton) Snapp.  Her family moved during her childhood with her father’s pastoring of churches in Iowa and North Dakota and they settled during her adolescence in North Dakota where Jan graduated from Fargo High School in 1956.  She then studied nursing at Wahpeton School of Science, now North Dakota State School of Science.  She received in-depth surgical training at the Shriners Hospital in St. Paul, MN which provided her with great skills and aptitude for nursing.  She worked for Abbott Hospital in Minneapolis and later the Shriners Hospital in St. Paul.

Jan married Douglas G. Main on January 23, 1960 in Fargo, North Dakota.  Doug’s schooling and occupation took them to Idaho, Missouri and northern Minnesota where they began their family before moving back to Missouri and Branson in 1978.  Jan then spent much of her time raising her children and caring for her family.  She was a tremendous organizer, she was creative and she had impeccable taste in all matters.

After raising her children, Jan worked in hotel management for different hotels in Branson.  She was a successful manager who had the respect of her employees and was very attentive to her staff and guests.  She retired from the Clarion in Branson after years in management.  Her retirement centered around her grandchildren, spending time together and forging strong relationships with them which Jan treasured.

Janet entered into rest on Monday, September 16, 2019 at Cox Medical Center Branson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, John “Jack” Snapp and Randy Snapp and one sister, Marj Anderson.

Jan is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Doug Main of Branson; sons, Kevin Main of Springfield and Jeff Main and wife Tarci of Brighton, MO; her daughter, Kathy Fisher of Springfield; two sisters, Paula Grosz of Moorhead, MN and Maribeth Teigen of Longview, WA; grandchildren, Steven Main, Mathew Main, Emily Main, Kayla and husband Trey Hufham, Hailey Whorton, Marina Main, Emil and wife Olga Crestian, Casey Manning, Bryce and wife Autumn Wallace, Dodge and wife Tiffany Wallace and Jerney Wallace along with six great-grandchildren.
