Memorial services for James Rankin, 59 of Branson, will be Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. in Covenant Life Church, 102 N. 3rd St., Branson with Chuck Puckett officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home and Crematory, Branson.
James Raymond Rankin was born to Richard E. “Dick” Rankin, Sr. and Laquetta (Hampton) Rankin on June 2, 1960 in Kankakee, Illinois. His family moved from Illinois to Branson when he was in the sixth grade. James had a huge love for and talent in playing the drums. He took his talent to the Lowe’s Music Show in Branson where he was the drummer. He didn’t just play as a means of employment but he enjoyed playing for fun. Upon the closing of Lowe’s Music Show, James worked at different resorts in the area.
On August 13, 1983, James married Nanette Quinlan in Branson. They spent every day together for 36 years. When James wasn’t drumming or enjoying music, he enjoyed fishing, classic cars and playing cards.
James entered into rest on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at his home in Branson.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Laquetta Rankin.
He is survived by his wife, Nanette Rankin of Branson; his daughter, Mandy Jung and husband Jason of Aurora, MO; his son, Jim Rankin of Branson; five grandchildren, Chase, Jimmy Lee, Shane, Casen and Adri; his father, Dick Rankin of Branson; six siblings, Richard E. Rankin, Jr. of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Debbie Strand of Branson, Brian Rankin of Hollister, Cheryl Erickson of Branson, Terry Rankin of Blue Eye, Eric Rankin of Blue Eye; two half-siblings, Gina White of Mattoon, IL, Ann Bacigalupo of Morton Grove, IL along with several nieces and nephews.
