Glen Amundsen Obituary

Glen E. Amundsen, 76, of Walnut Shade passed away Saturday, November 16, 2019 at his home. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, November 23, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. in First Baptist Church Branson.  Visitation will precede the service from 12:00 to 1:00 P.M. at the church.

Glen Earl Amundsen was born on January 3, 1943 in Orlando, Florida.  He was the son of Earl Amundsen and Mell (Humphries) Amundsen.  He grew up in Florida and graduated from Boone High School in Orlando in 1960.  On April 24, 1965 he married the love of his life, Roxanne Jinishian in Orlando.  Glen worked as a bank officer with First Federal Savings and Loan in central Florida before moving in 1977 to Harrison, AR.  In 1980, Glen and Roxanne moved to Branson and then settled in Walnut Shade in 1983.  Glen was a Sheriff’s Deputy for many years with the Taney County Sheriff’s Department and retired in 1995.

Glen had many loves, the greatest of which was his grandchildren.  He enjoyed the outdoors, camping and animals. He also liked traveling to Lucas Oil Speedway to watch car racing.

Glen cared about the community he lived in and was a difference maker.  He served as a volunteer firefighter with the Branson Fire Department for many years.  He was an Associate Board Member at College of the Ozarks as well as serving with Freedom Encounter.

Glen is survived by his wife, Roxanne Amundsen of Walnut Shade; his daughter, Dara Purvis and husband Alan of Pittsboro, North Carolina; two sisters, Diane Zipp and husband Fred of Elizabeth, Indiana and Iris Stonecipher and husband Brad of Atlanta, GA along with three grandchildren, Bailey Purvis, Ally Purvis and Benjamin Purvis.
