Gene Bortner, 92, of Kimberling City, Missouri, died Sunday, April 15, 2018. Mr. Bortner was born December 19, 1925 in Baltimore, Maryland, the son of Daniel and Fannie (McCullough) Bortner. He moved from Shawnee, Kansas, to Branson in 1981 and was employed by Silver Dollar City in several craft positions for 36 years. Mr. Bortner was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War serving in the United States Navy and United States Air Force and a member of the Masons and American Legion.
Survivors include his wife Shirley of Kimberling City, four living children, one deceased child, one son-in-law, two daughters-in-law, eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. One sister, Francis Rosenmiller of Pacifica, California, two sons, Bud Bortner and wife Patsy, grand daughter Sarah Jane of Paola, Kansas, and son Cy Bortner of Branson.
He was preceded in death by his parents Daniel and Fannie, first wife Jane, sister Hannah Basuino and brother Daniel Bortner.
Funeral services will be held Monday April 23, 2018, 1PM with Air Force military honors under the guidance of Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home and Crematory, Branson, Missouri.
