Carol Moritz Obituary

Carol Jean (Schall) Moritz was born Dec. 19, 1939 to Harry S. and Virginia M. (Stevens) Schall, in Hutchinson, KS.  She passed away on September 3, 2019 at Cox Hospital in Springfield, MO.

 

Carol attended Hutchinson schools, graduating from HHS in 1957.  After high school, she went to work in the office of the City Clerk for the City of Hutchinson, where she met Bob. She briefly attended Phillips University in Enid, OK before she  became engaged to the love of her life in October 1958. Carol then went to work for the Hutchinson Police Department, working as the secretary for the Chief of Police.

 

In 1959, she married Bob at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Hutchinson, KS.  To this union was born 5 children, Steven Albert, James Gregory, Patricia Marie, Jenifer Sue, and Michele Diane.

 

In the mid 80’s she was a partner in Kacey’s Fashion Plus, a women's clothing store, with her sister, Kathy.

 

Carol was a long-time Girl Scout leader at Morgan school for Brownie Troop 23 and Junior Troop 95.  She was a member of PEO Chapter HP of Hutchinson, KS, and the Kimberling City PEO group, Kimberling City, MO.

 

In 1969, Carol and Bob began vacationing at Table Rock Lake and spent part of every summer since, boating, skiing and swimming with family and friends on the lake. In 1999, Carol and Bob moved to their current home on the lake in the beautiful Ozarks.

 

Carol is preceded in death by her parents Harry S Schall and Virginia Mae Stevens Schall.

 

Carol is survived by her husband of 60 years, Robert (Bob) John Moritz, their children Steven (Elissa),  Ashburn, VA, James (Kim), Tampa, FL, Patricia Maurer (Michael), Gardner, KS, Jenifer Lathrum (Eric), Gardner, KS, and Michele Straub (Philip), Overland Park, KS, 16 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and her sister, Kathy Schall Flemmons of Kimberling City, MO.

 

Carol counts as her greatest blessings her conversion to the Catholic Church, her husband, Bob, her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends.

 

On Sunday, September 8th, 6:30 pm, a Rosary for Carol will be said and visitation will follow at 7:00 pm at the Snapp-Bearden funeral home in Branson MO.  On Monday, September 9th, 10:00 am, a visitation will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Branson MO. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 am.

 

Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Junction City, KS on Tuesday September 10, 2019 at 11:30 am.
