Billy Ray Farris was born on January 31, 1936 in Marionville, Missouri. On February 11, 1956 he married Mary Ellen Cameron in Hollister, Missouri and they were blessed with seven children. Ray and Mary raised their family in the Kansas City area. Ray worked as a meat cutter for retail grocery stores. Upon retirement, he and Mary moved to Forsyth and resided there for many years. They had recently moved to Springfield.
Ray was a member of Sardis General Baptist Church. He was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, riding ATVs and swimming at Beaver Creek. Ray also liked to go to garage and yard sales and auctions. He enjoyed playing cards as well. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who provided for and guided his family.
Ray entered into rest on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at the age of 82.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ray W. Farris & Myrtle Rowland, one daughter, Gail Lynn Farris and his sister, Phyllis Herndon.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Farris of Springfield; children, John Farris of Cedar Creek, MO, Nick Farris (Jammie) of Branson, Dan Farris (Shirley) of Hollister, Tom Farris (Debra) of Pea Ridge, AR, Rob Farris of Springfield, Susann Bronson (Mark) of Harrisonville, MO; brothers, Rex Collins of Arizona, Dennis Collins (Linda) of Missouri, Don Collins (Diane) of Liberty, MO; sister, Rowena Hughes (Glen) of Independence, MO; fourteen grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Sunday, July 22, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. in Sardis General Baptist Church in Forsyth with Josh Johannes and Sue Clayton officiating. Burial will follow in Ozarks Memorial Park Cemetery, Branson under the direction of Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home and Crematory, Branson.
