Mary Thompson

Mary Frances (Henderson) Thompson, age 95, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, January 6th, 2018 at the Nursing and Rehab in Forsyth, Missouri.  At Mary’s request, a simply graveside service will be held with immediate family at a date to be determined.

Mary was a native and long-time resident of Branson, Missouri.  She was born April 24th, 1922 at her family home in Branson, to Ira and Julia (Burris) Henderson.  Mary was married to the love of her life, Bruce Thompson on November 19th, 1947 and celebrated nearly 60 years of marriage together.  Mary followed Bruce faithfully from duty station to duty station as her husband served a 30 year career in the United States Navy.  During this time, Mary was a homemaker and loving mother to their four children.  In May of 1971, Bruce and Mary retired and returned to Mary’s hometown of Branson.  They spent their final years together in the beautiful Ozark hills, close to their family and friends.

Mary was an active, life-time member of the Community of Christ Church.  She was also a loyal and long-time member of The Order of Eastern Star of Missouri; serving with them for over 50 years.  Mary loved spending her free time with family and friends.  She also enjoyed fishing, sight-seeing, playing card games, reading, baking and cooking wonderful family dinners.  She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.

Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Julia Henderson; six brothers, John, Glenn, Charles (CP), Marvin, Roy and Ray Henderson; husband, Bruce Thompson; and grandson, Jason Thompson.

Mrs. Thompson is survived by her sons, Gary, Herschel and Howard Thompson; daughter, Julia Thompson; daughter-in-laws, Randi, Denise and Pauline Thompson; six grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
