Barbara Ann Porter

March 31, 1943 ~ June 12, 2017 (age 74) 74 Years Old


Barbara Ann Dunkmann Porter, 74, passed away, Monday, June 12, with her husband David, and daughter Kimberly, at her bedside.

She was born Mar. 31, 1943 in St. Louis, Mo., daughter of Chas. Gustav Dunkmann, and Jeanne Ella Maurer Dunkmann. She was united in marriage on Aug. 14, 1965 to David Chas. Porter. They had met a year earlier, as participants in a wedding in Chicago.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Richard Dunkmann.

Barbara was a 1961 graduate of Riverview Gardens H. S. St. Louis, Mo. She graduated in 1965, from Principia College, Elsah, Ill. Barbara touched many lives with her calm, steady, and cheerful demeanor. She taught elementary school for 7 years in Mich. and St. Louis. After moving to Branson, Mo. in 1990, she became a sales assoc. in various businesses, mainly the IMAX complex, and Belk. Before moving to Branson, her husband served 5 yrs. as an Army officer, taught Jr. & Sr. H.S., then became a High School Prin. for 6 yrs. They were also, owners of three family businesses.

She was a lifelong member of the Christian Science Church, having served as clerk, treasurer, and First & 2nd. reader.

She is survived by her husband David, of almost 52 yrs. one daughter, Kimberly Lyn Wilson, son-in-law, Charlton, and four grandchildren, Brock, Jesse, Brittany, and Ashley. Also, relatives in St. Louis, Indiana, Mich., and Wash. D.C.

Barbara and Dave’s leisure time was spent in going to music shows, and supporting, and attending College of the Ozarks basketball and volleyball games, and spending time with family.

Celebration of Life Service for Barbara will be Monday June 26, 2017 at 10:00 a.m., 17 Downing St., Hollister, Mo. This is the same & previous location of the Christian Science Church.  The service will be conducted by the Chaplain of the military officers assoc. in Branson, Col. Paul Vicalvi, a close friend of Barb & David. Nancy Dygert is lovingly providing  music on the harp. 

Barbara was cremated under the direction of Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home and Crematory, Branson.  Burial will be in the Gobblers Knob Cemetery-Hollister at a later date.
